The scrapbook is a timeline of the life of Laurence E. Ledbetter, Austin, Texas resident, from birth in 1882 to the celebration of his 50th wedding anniversary in 1960. Ledbetter worked at the Texas State Capitol building for 36 years, retiring from his position as Superintendent of Building and Grounds in 1956.

Laurence Edwin Ledbetter was born April 6, 1882 to Edwin J and Mary Josephine Ledbetter in Austin, Texas. Ledbetter spent most of his life in Austin with a brief relocation to the Midwest between 1903 and 1906. Once settled back in Austin he married Bess Cunningham on June 29, 1910.
